I’ve been getting a few messages lately and they’re very upsetting for me to read. Usually the messages are stating how they’re ashamed of being a Disney fan.

Let me tell you something, I was always teased in school for being a Disney fan. For some reason, it was worse in middle school than it was in high school. I guess these kids thought they were much better than me. They’d call me a “Disney geek”, but I always laughed it off. I never let it get to me. I was more than happy to have something that could always make me smile. I would watch a Disney movie and forget about everything. I would feel a million times better afterward.

What I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t feel bad for liking Disney. It’s not childish or stupid. There’s real emotion in these films. So what if you cry when Mufasa dies, or laugh at the Genie’s jokes, or sing along to your favorite song. It makes you human. Don’t ever lie to yourself. I’ve realized that Disney is huge part of my life. It’s the only thing I think about. I look towards it in certain situations. It keeps me motivated. Why should I fight something like that? Everybody’s got their thing; whether it’s Harry Potter, Glee, Xbox, or Facebook. No matter what, don’t be ashamed of it.
At the end of the day, you’re you. And if those other people don’t like it, that’s tough. You aren’t going to change their minds. You shouldn’t have to. Keep moving forward.

This is literally the best thing.
