I love when it rains here even though you can’t go in the water. Usually half the people leave, but we always wait it out. It’s fun to watch the palms shake and get drenched if it is a heavy storm. I also think that the rain really adds to the atmosphere, especially since the entire water park is themed after a crazy hurricane.

You know what’s a great feeling?
Its boiling outside when you first arrive at Typhoon Lagoon. The sun is blistering hot and you’re dying for that first dip in the Wave Pool. But first you have to take pictures by the sign with your family, get a key for the locker, and find a spot to situate yourself for the day. And by that time you’re about to explode because the heat is getting to you and everything that surrounds you is tempting. When the foghorn blares, everybody starts to scream as the wave comes. They’re taunting you.
At that point, you don’t care if you’ve still got your stupid flip flops on and you’re still wearing your swimsuit cover up - you NEED this. So, you run for the shallow end and instantly let the water tickle your toes. You rush to get just the last bit of the subdued wave and you let it hit you like a ton of bricks.
That my friends is why Typhoon Lagoon is one of my favorite places in Walt Disney World. I can just smell the water now.
